February 7, 2014Great Vehicle Wrap Design Starts with a Great Logo
You’re here because you’re interested in what makes a great vehicle wrap design. If you ask a designer, a business owner and a marketer that question you’ll probably get 3 different answers. Answers like, great colors, great photos, clear text, or a great call to action.
The simple fact that most people miss is that it is ultimately the end user, the consumer, the potential client who decides what a great vehicle wrap design is.
The consumer will glance at your vehicle for a few seconds and make a snap judgement. They’ll judge your reputation, your status, your quality, your success, your trustworthiness. All in 3 seconds. They’ll judge your company just like they judge magazines on the shelf or different boxes of food at the grocery store.
Brand recognition is so much easier with a great logo. Just think of McDonald’s. You’re driving down the interstate on a family vacation and you see a giant 90ft sign with the golden arches on it. That means food. That means Big Mac, crispy golden fries and a coke. If you have a family you’re also thinking fun for the kids. You don’t even need to see the word McDonald’s to know what it is. Think about the Apple logo, these days it’s a silver apple with a bite out of it. The Nike swoosh. The Starbucks green circle. These images speak to a different part of our brains than words. It’s like they bypass reason and speak straight to emotion.
Speak to your potential clients emotion. If you’re in the pest control business, how are your potential clients feeling? Are they worried about scorpions and termites and black widows? A logo that speaks to trust and security and professionalism should be the basis for the wrap. Once you have the logo worked out, the rest of the over all feel should flow quite easily from there. And remember if the rest of the graphics take away from that initial impression of the logo, you need to re-think those supporting graphics. They need to be supporting characters, not additional lead characters. There can only be one star in this show and it’s your logo.
